Turned down a FAANG onsite to finish a startup process I was already three rounds into, still not sure I made the right call
The FAANG recruiter reached out mid-process with the startup and wanted to move fast, but I'd already put in real time with the startup team and liked the people I'd be working with. Said no to the onsite, which felt strange to type out loud even to myself. Startup offer came through a week later and I took it. No regrets exactly, but I do wonder sometimes what the onsite would've told me about my own ceiling.

AnonymousAnon Honestly respect this. I did the opposite, took the FAANG onsite "just for practice" while already deep into another process, and it ended up costing me focus on the process I actually cared about. Sometimes closing a door is the better move.

AnonymousAnon Would've been so tempted to just do the onsite anyway for the data point even without taking the offer. But I get valuing the relationship you'd already built over a maybe.
