Did around 40 mock interviews before my first offer, the last five felt nothing like the first five

Early ones were rough, lots of dead air, forgetting to think out loud, over-explaining basic stuff. By the last handful I'd stopped narrating every micro-decision and started actually listening to the interviewer's hints instead of plowing through my own plan. Nobody tells you the volume matters as much as any single tip does.
