Got asked to whiteboard with zero warning and blanked on syntax I use every single day

Thought it was a behavioral round based on the invite. Interviewer pulls up a whiteboard five minutes in and asks me to write a function live. Completely forgot how a for loop works in a language I use daily, just stood there. Recovered eventually but that first minute was rough. Lesson learned: always ask what format the round is before walking in.
