Left a nine year accounting career for data analytics, the SQL joins felt oddly familiar from ledger reconciliation

Spent most of my accounting career reconciling ledgers by hand across a dozen spreadsheets, so when I started learning SQL joins in a bootcamp it clicked faster than I expected, turns out matching transaction IDs across tables is basically the same instinct. The stats and Python side was harder, hadn't touched a formula heavier than VLOOKUP in years. Landed a junior analyst role six months in, mostly because I could talk fluently about how finance teams actually use the numbers, not just how to query them. Nobody warned me the domain knowledge would matter as much as the technical skill.
