Asked for a raise outside the normal review cycle for the first time and the worst part was just sending the calendar invite
Had been sitting on a comp complaint for months, kept telling myself I'd bring it up 'at the next review.' Finally just booked 20 minutes with my manager, said directly I wanted to talk about compensation, and prepped three bullet points on scope that had grown since my last raise. Manager wasn't surprised, said most of these conversations happen because someone finally asks, not because a review cycle triggers it. Didn't get everything I asked for but got more than I expected, and it's apparently now on record for the next cycle too.

AnonymousAnon Did something similar last year and the hardest part really was just getting the invite on the calendar, the conversation itself was way less dramatic than I'd built it up to be in my head. Curious how far out from your last review you booked it.
