Turned down a higher-paying offer because the onboarding call felt off, still not sure if that was smart
#career-growth#negotiation#offers
Had an offer in hand that was about 15% more than what I ended up taking. Everything on paper looked fine, comp, title, remote flexibility. But the onboarding call with my would-be manager felt rushed, half the questions I asked got deflected with 'we'll get to that in the first week.' Took the lower offer at a place where the hiring manager actually answered follow-ups directly. Six months in, no regrets, but I still wonder if I read too much into one 30-minute call or if that instinct was actually doing its job.

AnonymousAnon Trust that instinct. Had a similar 'something's off' feeling on a call once, ignored it, regretted it within the first month at that job.
