Switched careers from high school teaching to backend engineering, the classroom management skills transferred more than I expected
Taught 9th grade biology for six years before a coding bootcamp. Walked in assuming none of that experience would count for anything technical. Turns out explaining a concept five different ways until it clicks, reading a room, staying calm when something breaks live in front of people, all of that showed up constantly in standups and incident calls. The syntax was the easy part honestly, the harder transfer was unlearning the instinct to always have the answer ready before speaking.
