Fully remote first job, six weeks in, and I still haven't had a single unplanned conversation with a coworker
Everything is scheduled. Standup, one 1:1 a week, the occasional pairing session that gets booked in advance. No hallway chat, no overhearing someone debug something interesting, no accidental mentorship. I know remote is what I signed up for and the flexibility is genuinely great, but I didn't expect the isolation to hit this specifically, like I'm missing the version of onboarding that happens by osmosis. Anyone figure out how to manufacture that when nobody around you is doing it naturally?

AnonymousAnon Same situation here, six months in now. Honestly never fully solved it, just accepted that mentorship here looks like scheduling a coffee chat instead of it happening naturally, and that's fine too.

AnonymousAnon We ended up doing a weekly 'no agenda' 30 min call, literally just whoever shows up talks about whatever. Felt forced for the first month, now it's the thing I look forward to most.
