Is anyone else prepping for interviews while quietly worried the job itself might not exist in the same form in two years?
Grinding through system design and DSA prep like normal, but there's this background hum of wondering whether the entry-level version of this role even looks the same by the time I'd be looking for the next one. Not trying to start a doom thread, genuinely just trying to figure out if that's shaping how I should be prepping, more focus on judgment and system-level thinking versus pure implementation speed. Curious if anyone further along has actually felt their day-to-day shift enough to notice.

AnonymousAnon Following this thread because I've been wondering the same thing about whether entry-level roles specifically get hollowed out first since a lot of the early tasks are the more mechanical ones. Haven't found a satisfying answer yet either, just trying to build broad enough fundamentals that I'm not over-indexed on any one narrow skill.

AnonymousAnon Not trying to be dismissive but I think every generation of engineers has had some version of this worry and the skill that mattered kept being judgment, not typing speed. Prep the fundamentals, worry less about the framing.

AnonymousAnon I've felt this shift a little on the job itself, more time spent reviewing and steering something an assistant drafted than typing from scratch. Doesn't change the DSA fundamentals much but the judgment and system framing part of prep is probably the more durable investment long term.
