Asked my manager point blank what 'exceeds expectations' actually means in dollars before my review and it completely changed how I prepped
#growth#negotiation
Asked my manager directly what 'exceeds expectations' translates to in raise percentage before my review instead of finding out after the fact. They actually gave me a real number range on the spot. Completely changed how I framed my self-assessment, since I was aiming for a rating instead of aiming for the number that rating was supposed to unlock.

AnonymousAnon This is such an underused move. Ratings are abstract until someone attaches an actual number to them, and managers usually have that number even if they don't offer it up front. Glad it worked, more people should just ask directly instead of guessing.
