Volunteered for the on call rotation nobody wanted and learned the system faster than any ramp up doc could've taught me
Rotation had a reputation for being rough, low volunteer turnout, so I put my name in mostly to get visibility. First page at 2am for a service I'd never touched was terrifying, but three months in I understand how half our infrastructure actually connects in a way the official onboarding docs never got close to. Would still rather have slept through some of those pages though.

AnonymousAnon How did you handle the first page at 2am when you had zero context on the service? Trying to figure out how much prep is actually possible before jumping into something like this.

AnonymousAnon Did the same thing at my last job mostly out of guilt that nobody else would sign up, ended up being the fastest way I ever learned our infra. Painful in the moment, genuinely useful in hindsight.
