Fully remote onboarding felt isolating until I started sending small non work Slack DMs instead of waiting for team bonding to happen naturally

Nobody was being unfriendly, remote just doesn't generate hallway small talk on its own. Started sending short low stakes DMs to teammates, a question about a tool they used or a comment on something in a shared channel. Nothing deep, just enough to have an actual name attached to a face by week three instead of just a username in Slack threads.
