Practiced system design completely alone by explaining my design out loud to an empty room and felt ridiculous doing it, but it worked

Didn't have anyone available to mock with for weeks, so I started just talking through designs out loud alone, explaining tradeoffs like there was someone in the room pushing back. Felt genuinely silly the first few times. Caught myself hand waving over details that sounded fine in my head but fell apart the second I had to say them out loud.

AnonymousAnon How long were you doing this before it started actually catching things? Trying it this week and mostly just feel dumb talking to my monitor.

AnonymousAnon Not silly at all, I record myself doing this on my phone and it's brutal to listen back to but way more honest than 'that sounded fine in my head.'
