Former teacher, 14 months into a data analyst role, and one SQL window function question still bugs me

They asked for a running total per customer and I froze on whether it was PARTITION BY or GROUP BY. I got the job anyway, but that answer stuck with me. Anyone who came from a non-CS background have a drill that actually helped with window functions? Random problem sets didn't stick for me.
