Backend path: go deeper on SQL first, or learn a framework to get a job faster?

I know both matter, and I have a limited number of evenings.

Right now I can write joins and the basic queries, but I've never looked at an explain plan. I also have a half-finished Django tutorial sitting in a tab.

If you were starting over, which would you do first?
