Left a system design study group after week three. Was I too quick?

Nine people, and almost nobody prepared. We spent 90 minutes a week squinting at diagrams nobody could explain. I left and started 20-minute solo drills, one topic a day: rate limiter, news feed, notifications. For people who've done group practice: is it worth staying when people don't show up prepared, or should I wait for a better group?
