Still getting asked to write quicksort for senior backend roles. Is that normal?

Five years in, and I've been asked to implement a sort in two of my last three loops. I know the answer is probably 'it's fine,' but it feels like a strange filter when the job is mostly APIs and queues. Do you prep for it anyway, or push back on the format?

I'd only push back on the format if the role is clearly API-heavy. Otherwise, prep it once, get it solid, and stop worrying about it.

The sort is rarely the point. They usually want to see how you handle edge cases and talk through the pivot choice. I'd still prep it so you're not thrown by it.
