Left UX design for frontend. Nobody asked about my case studies

Hiring managers didn't ask about my design process at all. They asked how I'd debug a flaky test. My old portfolio was all research and wireframes, so I'm rebuilding around one small app with a deployed demo and a short write-up of a bug I chased. Still early, but the target is clearer now. Anyone else come from a non-engineering role?
