Asked my lead to pair with me every Thursday. Three sessions in, it stopped being awkward

I was scared it would look like I couldn't work alone. Turned out he wanted to teach someone and the team didn't have a structure for it. Thursday pairing is now a standing thing. Anyone else start a small ritual like this at a new job?
