Tip: read one engineering blog post from the company before the call

Most candidates skim the homepage. I read one post about how a team scaled a database or moved to a new service, then asked a question about it. The interviewer's tone changed, and the next twenty minutes were a real conversation instead of a quiz. Pick a post from the last year, not the oldest one you can find.
