Thinking about taking a 12% pay cut for a first dev job

I'm in ops right now and earning more than the dev offer would pay, around 12% more. The dev role comes with a mentorship track and a clear path to a second title. Everyone I ask says 'it depends,' which I already knew. What I'd like to hear is how people looked at the next two or three years. Did the first salary catch up, and did the skills earn the second offer?

Did the mentorship track have a named person, or just a slot in a calendar? That's the difference I'd check before saying yes.

Not an answer, but the question I'd ask myself: what does the second title look like in two years, and is it written down anywhere? The pay bump matters less to me now than the reviews I got in the first year.
