I hate networking. Posting one small thing I learned each week did more for me than 100 cold DMs.

Cold outreach makes my skin crawl, and I was bad at it anyway — generic DMs, no replies, felt gross even hitting send.

So I stopped and tried something lower-stakes: once a week I post one genuinely small thing I figured out that week. Not a thread, not a hot take — just "here's a bug that confused me and what it turned out to be."

Six weeks in, two people I'd never met reached out because a post had helped them, and one of those turned into a referral conversation. Still an introvert. Still hate networking events. But quietly showing your work in public seems to reach people without the ick. Anyone else found a version of this that works for them?

This resonates hard. Cold DMs always felt a little gross to me too. Posting what you learn is basically networking that comes to you instead of you begging for it. How long before you saw anything actually come of it?

The 'one small thing a week' framing is what makes this actually stick — it's low-stakes enough that you keep doing it. I tried the cold DM route and felt gross every time. Did anyone actually reply to your weekly posts, or was the real value just forcing yourself to reflect?

This is so much more my speed than networking events too. "Build in public" always sounded exhausting until I reframed it exactly like you did — just document one small thing, no performance, no thread. The compounding is real and quiet: people start to remember you as the person who explains things clearly, and that reputation quietly does the outreach for you. Introvert-approved. Which platform did you find worked best for it?
