I completely blanked on an easy problem in a live interview. How do you recover mid-call?
It was basically a two-sum. Something I've done fifty times. The nerves just hit and my mind went white for what felt like a year. I mumbled through it and obviously didn't get the callback. What I can't figure out is what you actually do in the moment when the panic starts — do you say something out loud? Ask for a second to think? Genuinely asking, because I know it'll happen again.

AnonymousAnon The thing that saved me: say it out loud — 'give me a sec, I want to make sure I don't rush this.' Buys you time and interviewers read it as composure, not panic. Most of them have blanked in an interview too, they genuinely know the feeling.

AnonymousAnon Been there and it's the worst feeling. What actually helps in the moment: say it out loud — 'my mind just went blank, give me a few seconds to reset.' Interviewers are human and it buys you time while showing composure. Then talk through the dumb brute-force version first, even if it's embarrassing. Getting your voice moving usually unfreezes the brain. Silence is the real trap.
