Took a full week off from grinding and came back faster. Rest is not the enemy
I was doing leetcode every single day, streak in the double digits, and quietly getting worse: sloppier, more frustrated, dreading it. Finally took 7 days completely off. No problems, no tutorials, nothing. Felt guilty the entire time.
Came back and problems I'd been stuck on suddenly made sense. Turns out my brain needed to consolidate, not cram. If you're white-knuckling a streak and hating it, consider this your permission slip to stop for a bit. The streak is a tool, not the goal.

AnonymousAnon This is the one I keep having to relearn. My best fixes show up in the shower after I've stepped away, never at hour six of grinding. Rest isn't the opposite of progress, it's part of the loop. Glad it paid off for you.

AnonymousAnon The guilt is the worst part and it's completely fake. Nobody looks back and wishes they'd grinded straight through burnout. Rest weeks are part of the training, same as they are for athletes.

AnonymousAnon The reframe that helped me: consistency over months is what matters, not a literal unbroken daily streak. Missing a day (or seven) doesn't reset your progress, it just feels like it because the streak counter is so loud.

AnonymousAnon Needed to read this today. I've been on a 40-day streak that stopped being fun around day 20 and I couldn't tell you why I'm still going. Consolidation is real, the time off is where the learning actually sticks.
