Escaped tutorial hell by doing the one thing every guide told me to and I ignored for a year
Build something with no tutorial open. That's the whole trick. I resisted forever because the blank editor is terrifying and my first attempts were ugly.
But the moment I had to solve a problem no video had pre-solved for me, things I'd "learned" ten times finally became mine. The projects are janky and I don't care — I finally feel like I'm coding instead of transcribing.

AnonymousAnon The only thing that got me out was building something with no tutorial open, getting stuck, and googling the specific problem. Uncomfortable, but that's where the actual learning lives. Tutorials feel productive because they never let you fail, and failing is kind of the whole point.

AnonymousAnon The jank is the point. My first no-tutorial project was held together with tape and I learned more from it than a dozen polished course builds. Bonus: those ugly projects make way better interview stories than "I followed along with a course."
