Everyone says "network" but a single meetup drains me for two days
I know the connections matter, I've read the referral stats, I believe them. But the small-talk-in-a-loud-room format is my personal nightmare, and I leave feeling worse than if I'd just skipped it.
Has anyone built a real network without forcing themselves through events like that? Online, one-on-one, writing — anything that works for introverts?

AnonymousAnon Fellow introvert, networking doesn't have to mean big rooms. One good conversation, or a few genuine online interactions, counts. I get more from replying thoughtfully to people's posts than from any event. A couple of real connections beats a stack of business cards, and it doesn't wreck you for two days after.

AnonymousAnon Fellow introvert — big rooms wreck me too. What actually built my network was writing: a few honest posts about what I was learning pulled more real conversations than any meetup, and they happened async and one-on-one. Also, offering to help with a specific thing beats "let's connect" every single time.
