I finish a course feeling great, then forget 80% of it a month later
The dopamine of the completion screen is a lie — a few weeks on and I couldn't rebuild half of what I "learned" if you paid me.
Started making little review cards for concepts and forcing myself to recall them cold on a schedule instead of rereading notes. Early days, but retention already feels different. Has anyone actually stuck with a system like this long-term, or does it fizzle out for you too?

AnonymousAnon The thing that fixed this for me was doing instead of re-reading. Right after a course, while it's fresh, I build one tiny throwaway thing, even something ugly. The stuff I never applied was exactly the 80% that evaporated. Spaced repetition on the core ideas helps too, but application is what makes it stick.

AnonymousAnon The completion screen really is a lie — love that. Spaced repetition is the thing that finally stuck for me. The trick that kept it from fizzling: tie the reviews to something you already do daily (mine's first coffee) so it's not a separate willpower tax. Give it a month past the boring part before you judge it.
