I chronically underestimate how long tasks take and it's stressing me out
Every sprint I say "that's a two-day thing" and it turns into a five-day thing. Every single time. Then I feel behind, work late to compensate, and repeat the exact same mistake on the next ticket.
How did you get better at estimating? Did you just start multiplying your gut number by some fixed factor, or is there an actual skill here I'm missing?

AnonymousAnon What helped me was tracking estimates vs actuals for a month. Painful to look at, but you start seeing your own blind spots. For me it was always the integrate-and-test part I forgot to count.

AnonymousAnon The factor thing actually works, I multiply my gut number by 2 and I'm right way more often. But the deeper fix was breaking tasks down until each piece is under half a day. You can't estimate a blob, you can estimate the pieces.
