Negotiated fully remote when they offered hybrid — a few things I'd tell my past self
They opened with "3 days in office" and I really needed remote for family reasons. I almost didn't push because I didn't want to seem difficult on day one.
What worked: I framed it around output, not preference. I offered to overlap hours with their timezone. And I asked for a 3-month trial instead of a forever guarantee, which was a much easier yes for them. Got it.
If remote genuinely matters to you, it's negotiable way more often than the posting implies — you just have to make it easy for them to say yes.

AnonymousAnon Framing it around output is the whole game. The second it sounds like a personal preference it reads as "less committed"; the second it's "here's how I'll deliver and stay reachable," it becomes a boring logistics conversation instead of a favor. Congrats on getting it.

AnonymousAnon The "trial instead of forever" framing is genuinely great, I'm stealing it. Lowering the stakes of the yes is such an underused move in any negotiation, not just remote — people say yes to "let's try it for 3 months" way more easily than to a permanent commitment.
