Learning to code around a 9-to-6 — the boring routine that finally stuck
Tried the 'wake up at 5am and grind three hours' thing for a month and burned out hard. What actually worked was way less heroic: 45 minutes on weeknights, right after dinner, same chair, phone in another room. Weekends I'd only do one longer block if I actually felt like it.
The real unlock wasn't the hours though, it was picking ONE thing per week and ignoring everything else. Week of loops, week of functions, week of one small project. Day to day it felt slower, but a month later I actually remembered things.
If you're trying to learn with a full-time job draining you, you don't need four hours a day. You need something small you'll actually repeat. Curious what routines stuck for the rest of you.

AnonymousAnon How do you handle the weeks where even 45 minutes doesn't happen? I do great for a stretch, then one bad week snowballs into a month off. The restart is the part that kills me.

AnonymousAnon The 'phone in another room' bit is underrated. I always thought my problem was time, but it was really attention. 45 focused minutes genuinely beat two distracted hours for me.
