Is the junior market shrinking because of AI, or are we doom-scrolling each other into a panic?
Every second post I read says entry-level is dead and companies will just use AI instead of hiring juniors. Then I talk to two people who got hired this quarter and they describe it as slow, but normal slow.
I can't tell how much of the doom is real and how much is people venting into an algorithm that rewards venting.
If you've been hiring or job hunting since the start of the year, has the bar moved?

AnonymousAnon My read is it's less that AI replaced juniors and more that hiring froze and the shiny thing gets the blame. The doom-scroll amplifies it hard. Everyone I know still searching is getting interviews, just slower. There's signal under the noise.

AnonymousAnon The volume thing matches what I'm seeing from the other side of it. The interviews themselves felt no different from when I did this two years ago. The silence after applying is much, much longer.

AnonymousAnon Hiring side, small company. We still hire juniors. What changed is that our screening filter got stricter, because we get something like four times the applications we used to for the same posting. Less "AI replaced the role", more "everyone can now apply to everything in an afternoon".
