A few weeks into my first dev job and I already feel like a hiring mistake.
Everyone around me just seems to know things. I ask what feel like dumb questions daily. Googled how to resolve a merge conflict yesterday and felt like a fraud doing it. Logically I know onboarding takes time. Emotionally I'm braced for someone to tap my shoulder and say it was all a mistake. How long did the onboarding fog last for you before things started clicking?

AnonymousAnon The people who seem to just know things have context you don't have yet, not extra brainpower. Give yourself the same months they got. Honestly the fact that you care this much is usually the opposite of a mis-hire.

AnonymousAnon About three months before I stopped feeling like a fraud daily, maybe six before I felt genuinely useful. Googling merge conflicts is not a junior tell, half my senior team still does it. You're doing fine.
