Bootcamp grad, eighteen months into my first dev job, and I still flinch a little when someone says "CS fundamentals"
I know what a hash map is, I can explain Big O well enough to pass interviews, I ship real features every sprint. None of that stops the small flinch when a coworker casually references something from their degree like everyone had the same starting point. Nobody's actually made me feel behind — this is entirely internal. I think what would help is knowing I'm not the only bootcamp person who still carries this a year and a half in, because right now it feels like something I should have outgrown by now.

AnonymousAnon Six years out from my bootcamp and the flinch is basically gone now, for what it's worth. It didn't disappear from anyone convincing me otherwise, it just quietly stopped mattering once enough people started asking me for help with 'fundamentals' stuff.

AnonymousAnon Four years in, still bootcamp, still get that flinch sometimes. It fades but slower than anyone tells you. What actually helped was realizing half the CS grads I work with can't explain Big O half as clearly as bootcamp people can, because we had to learn it as an interview skill instead of absorbing it passively.
