Second appraisal cycle in and I keep hearing "you're ready for more" with zero specifics on what more actually is
First cycle, fine, I was new, vague feedback made sense. This time I asked directly — ready for more of what, which skill, which kind of project — and got the same soft answer restated a different way. I don't think anyone's being cagey on purpose, I think "more" genuinely hasn't been defined by anyone above my manager either. But I can't build toward a target that doesn't exist yet. Anyone had luck turning "you're ready for more" into an actual checklist, or do you just have to wait for a project to force the definition?

AnonymousAnon Try asking for it framed as a specific project instead of a skill — 'if I did X well over the next quarter would that count as more' — sometimes managers can answer a concrete hypothetical when they can't answer the abstract question.
