Our team lead never says anything's wrong directly, just 'interesting choice' in review comments
My team lead never says anything's actually wrong. Reviews come back with comments like 'interesting choice' or 'sure, if that's what you want' and I'm left decoding what that actually means for an hour. Directly asking 'is this a problem?' usually gets a vague non-answer too. Anyone figured out how to get a passive-communicator manager to just say the thing?

AnonymousAnon Following this because I have the exact same manager apparently. Started documenting the vague comments and asking for written clarification over email, at least creates a paper trail even if the actual answer stays vague.

AnonymousAnon Oh this is so relatable it hurts. Mine does the classic 'we'll circle back' which means never. What's worked a little for me is asking a very specific either/or question instead of an open one — 'should I use approach A or B' gets an actual answer more often than 'is this okay'.
