Bombed a call because the interviewer clearly couldn't understand my accent and neither of us said anything about it
Technical round went fine on the whiteboard part, but I could tell halfway through that the interviewer was struggling with my accent — asking me to repeat things, going quiet after I answered. Neither of us addressed it directly, we just kept going. Got a generic rejection two days later. No idea if it was the accent, the answers, or both, and I don't know how to even ask that question without sounding paranoid. Anyone else dealt with this and found a way to just... say something in the moment?

AnonymousAnon Curious if you've tried asking the recruiter directly for feedback on audio/communication clarity separately from the content questions next time. Might at least rule that variable out for future rounds.

AnonymousAnon This happened to me during a phone screen and I never figured out if it mattered either. What helped a little was slowing down deliberately in the first two minutes just so both of us could calibrate before the technical stuff started.
