Six years as an ICU nurse, and last week I was the most experienced person on an incident call for the first time

I left nursing two years ago and I'm still getting used to how fast trust builds in this job compared to healthcare. Last Thursday a payment service went down and I was the senior-most engineer on the call, mostly because everyone more experienced than me happened to be out. Three junior devs were waiting for me to say what to do next, and I had this exact same feeling I used to get running a code on the floor, except back then I actually knew what I was doing. We got to a rollback in twenty minutes and it worked, but I spent the whole retro convinced someone would ask how long I'd really been doing this. Two years in and I still catch myself translating everything back into nursing terms just to trust my own judgment.
