Nobody mentioned in the interview that the codebase I'd be maintaining was older than some of my teammates

Asked about tech stack, got a clean answer about the framework and the language version. What I didn't ask, and what nobody offered, was that a third of the service was written before the company even had a style guide, and it shows. Not complaining exactly, learned more in three months untangling it than I did in a year of greenfield bootcamp projects. Just wish "how old is the oldest file in this repo" had occurred to me as a question.
