Practiced the STAR method so much my answers started sounding like a script instead of a person

Drilled situation-task-action-result for every story in my back pocket until I could recite them without thinking. Then an interviewer asked a natural follow-up mid-answer and I visibly lost my place because I'd only rehearsed the straight line through. Started practicing out loud with someone who'd interrupt me on purpose instead. Slower to prep for but it's the only thing that's made the answers sound like they're coming from a person instead of a slide.
