Went from warehouse floor to QA to backend dev over three years and each jump felt like starting over
Picked up manual QA at the same company almost by accident, someone quit and I said I'd try it. QA to dev was the jump I actually worked for, nights and weekends for about a year. Each move felt like being the newest, least useful person in the room again, even the second time when I supposedly knew what that felt like already. Doesn't get less uncomfortable, you just get faster at getting through the uncomfortable part.

AnonymousAnon QA is honestly such an underrated way in. I hired someone off our QA team last year specifically because they'd already learned to read code critically before they ever wrote a line of it.
