Asked for 15% more than the initial offer and got 10 of it

Had a number in my head from research on similar roles, said it out loud in the call instead of over email, which felt worse in the moment but apparently reads as more confident. They came back a few days later with something in between. Didn't lose the offer, didn't get everything, walked away with rent covered either way. Wish someone had told me earlier that asking rarely burns the whole thing down.
