Data analyst for five years, six weeks into my first software engineering role

Knew SQL cold, had never touched git before my first day. The thing nobody prepared me for wasn't the syntax, it was realizing analysts get judged on the answer and engineers get judged on the process that produced it. My first PR had more comments about naming and structure than about whether the logic worked. Trying to remind myself that's a different skill, not a referendum on whether I can do this.
