Thirty-six years old starting my first junior developer role next Monday
Spent fourteen years in operations management before this. The bootcamp cohort was mostly people half my age and I kept doing the math on how many years behind I'd be by the time I hit their current level. A mentor pointed out I've already managed teams, run projects under real deadlines, and sat through more stakeholder meetings than most senior engineers ever will. Trying to actually believe that instead of just repeating it back to myself.

AnonymousAnon I did a similar switch at 34 from logistics. Two years later age has come up exactly zero times in any review. The catching-up feeling fades faster than the bootcamp cohort comparison makes it seem.
