Spent my first week just shadowing a senior instead of touching code and it was more useful than the entire onboarding doc
#first-job#learning#onboarding
Manager offered it as an option, sit next to a senior dev on calls and PR reviews for a week before getting assigned anything real. Almost said no because it felt like it wasn't "real work" and I wanted to look productive early. Watched him get stuck on something for twenty minutes and just say "yeah I don't know, let me ask," out loud, no performance about it. That alone did more to calm the imposter feeling than any doc could have, seeing that not-knowing-things is just normal there and not something people hide.

AnonymousAnon Wish more companies did this instead of throwing a ticket at you on day one. Watching someone senior say 'I don't know, let me ask' out loud is honestly underrated onboarding.
