My mentor read my resume for four minutes and only asked one question: what did you actually build
#mentorship#projects#resume
Handed over a resume I'd polished for two weeks — action verbs, quantified everything, the works. She skimmed it, set it down, and asked what I'd actually built with my own hands versus what I'd contributed to on a team. Realized half my bullets were technically true and completely uninformative. Rewrote the projects section around three things I could explain in detail if someone pushed back, cut everything else. Shorter resume, better interviews since.

AnonymousAnon Brutal and completely correct. I rewrote every bullet from "responsible for" to "built X, which did Y" and it's still the single highest-leverage change I've ever made to a resume.
