Kept applying to roles a level above what I thought I qualified for and the callback rate didn't change

Ran an accidental experiment — half my applications this round were roles I felt ready for, half were a level up that I almost didn't apply to. Callback rate was basically identical between the two groups. The stretch roles didn't punish me for reaching, and a couple of them didn't even ask about the gap. I'd been filtering myself out of interviews that were never going to filter me out first.
