My first standup I said 'no blockers' three days straight while quietly stuck, until someone finally asked if I was okay
#communication#first-job#onboarding
Was stuck on a permissions bug the entire time, convinced saying so out loud on day one meant I couldn't figure basic things out on my own. By day three a teammate pulled me aside after the call, not the manager, just asked directly if I actually had no blockers or if I just hadn't said anything yet. Took him four minutes to point me at the right doc. I'd been sitting on it alone for two full days for no reason.

AnonymousAnon The thing that got me was realizing "no blockers" was doing double duty as both a status update and a promise that I could figure everything out alone. Nobody actually reads it as the second thing except you.
