Quick one: do you mention a counteroffer from your current job during negotiations?

My current company came back with a retention bump after I gave notice, which is obviously not why I'm leaving, but the number is real. Curious if anyone's actually used something like that as leverage with a new offer, or if it reads as a bluff / makes people question why you're leaving at all.

AnonymousAnon I'd say no, unless you're genuinely willing to take it. The moment you mention it they know your floor and it quietly becomes the anchor for everything after. "I have another process in play" does the same work without handing over a number.
