Turned down a FAANG onsite because the timeline conflicted with a family thing, and I'm still not sure I'd do it again
#career-growth#offers
Got the onsite invite for a role I'd been chasing for months, and the only slot they had was the same week as my sister's wedding out of state. Recruiter offered to push it three weeks out but said the team was trying to close the loop before a headcount freeze. I picked the wedding. No regrets in the moment, but I keep doing the math on whether that headcount freeze thing was real or just pressure, and whether I torched a shot I won't get back. Would you have picked differently?

AnonymousAnon You'll never get to see the counterfactual, which is the genuinely annoying part of decisions like this. But the version of you who skipped the family thing and then didn't get the offer anyway would be writing a much worse version of this post.
