Told my team lead I wanted to move toward backend and within two months I was actually on backend tickets

Was doing mostly frontend for a year and a half, wanted more backend exposure but kept assuming I had to wait for a formal opening or a reorg. Finally just said it plainly in a one on one, not a big pitch, just 'I'd like more backend work when it makes sense.' Lead paired me with someone on an API migration two weeks later. Nobody had to change my title or reorg a team, I just never asked out loud before.
